Soda Stereo, open letter to the Rock and Roll Hall Fame.

The best way to explain to someone with no experience in Latin music what Soda Stereo
represents for the Hispanic community in America and around the planet is by referring to The Beatles. Just as Paul, John, Ringo, and
George began to amaze and add up fans globally before anyone else in the sixties; Gustavo Cerati, Charly Alberti, and Zeta Bosio have done the
same in the Latin universe since the eighties. Like The Beatles in all languages, Soda Stereo represents a positive “Before and After” for music performed in Spanish.

Achieving musical excellence and mass recognition spanning several decades, and building a legacy that will endure in the social fabric of many countries are vital factors that must always be recognized. But reaching this in countries with beautiful and abundant local rhythms and styles, where rock music was a genre of little interest to record companies, the media, and concert promoters, even banned in many places, and even so, within their area of influence enjoy the same
kind of critical acclaim and popularity as The Beatles, The Rolling
Stones, David Bowie, Queen, KISS, The Police, U2, and Coldplay is a
tremendous feat that should be recognized but also celebrated high and above for planting a successful seed in an inhospitable desert.
If we add that Soda Stereo achieved this by singing exclusively in
Spanish, which has given several generations of Hispanic fans a sort
of self-identity and a sense of belonging, because for the first time it allowed millions, near and far, to be part of a whole enjoying rock in
their own language and with lyrics closer to their daily reality, then we are looking at a phenomenon that goes beyond any description of permanent positive impact. Soda Stereo is a key element in the growth and perpetuation of rock
as a successful genre in Latin America, if bands from all over the world can now more easily carry out successful tours there, it is because Soda Stereo paved the way for everyone with hard work,
creativity, and excellence.

No other musical artist
in the world has received
this great tribute from
this respected institution.

Their sky, full of stars.
Rock Hall inductees Andy Summers, Bono, The Edge, Gene Simmons,
and Carlos Santana have all expressed their admiration and respect
for Soda Stereo. Worldwide megastar Chris Martin has mentioned “De Música Ligera” is the most representative song of Latin America, Coldplay included it on their Live from Buenos Aires album.
Mr. Martin also did the vocal performance of this song on Soda Stereo's
recent farewell tour, Gracias Totales.

Beloved Colombian star Shakira has cited Soda Stereo as an influence that inspired her to become an artist, from a
very young age she considers herself
one of Soda's biggest fans.

Iconic guitarist Carlos Alomar, who was David
Bowie's right-hand
man for nearly thirty years, has shared stage
and recording studios
with the biggest
names in the industry,
and produced Soda Stereo's album "Doble Vida" in 1988, is a great guardian of their legacy and has kindly supported our campaign efforts from the beginning. "We must force the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame to keep up with the times and the current demands of the
people; of the Latin community and also of the Afro-American".

Listen carefully to all the personalities our campaign has publicly rallied in support of Soda Stereo's induction. Something unprecedented in the history of Latin rock, and most likely, in the history of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Many of the biggest and most influential names of rock and pop in Spanish,
journalists, filmmakers, producers, art directors, and concert promoters,
among others, have stepped forward and joined to help achieve what would be a historic feat... The induction of a band that absolutely deserves it, but
because their songs are in Spanish and their career does not come from The United States, Canada, England, Ireland, or Australia, it has been overlooked. Many fans and experts bluntly put it: "If Soda Stereo were not from Argentina, but from an English-speaking country, they would have
been inducted a long time ago."

is mentioned in his

and Damon Albarn’s
band... “They transcend
the Spanish language,
I am a British Nigerian
who loves Soda Stereo.”

If Soda Stereo is inducted into the hall of fame it will be because they are worthy of it and because the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame Nominating and Voting Committees will
decide to take a historic step in recognition of an incredible band from a vast geographical area, Latin America, which
despite being culturally powerful and beautiful, sadly and unfairly, has been historically misunderstood and
discriminated against in the general global context. We, as a campaign, simply and humbly propose to see the world in a grain of sand, because a beautiful world it is. Uno,
Dos,
Tres,
Catorce. With an estimated 471 million, Spanish is the second
language with more
native speakers around the globe (After Chinese).
And by far the fastest-growing and second
language most spoken in The United States.

of Fame should have already done this gesture of opening its doors to artists in other languages, and not been
exclusively Anglo Saxons, and if Soda Stereo is the first one in Spanish, I believe it would be a
great opportunity for the

Our most iconic and popular band is Soda Stereo. “If you don’t see in your hearts, in your minds and your record players that this is the time to include a Latin American band in the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, then you’re blind, you’re deaf and basically you just don’t get it, because rock and roll it’s so alive and kicking south of the border.” Nicolás Entel. the Netflix series Break It All: The Story of Rock in
Latin America.

The day his music
became eternal. American music history teaches that February 3, 1959, is known as “The day the music died” for the tragic loss of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and “The Big Bopper” J. P. Richardson. For his fans, September 4, 2014; the day Gustavo Cerati passed away after four years in a coma that kept millions praying daily for
his recovery, has begun to become: "The day
his music became eternal." This reflects the positive and hopeful inspiration that Mr. Cerati left behind as part of his legacy. And far from spelling the death of any music, it serves as a reminder that thanks to Gustavo Cerati and Soda Stereo, today in the Latin music industry there are hundreds of successful artists who cite them as the inspiration that still
fuels their careers. Our dear Gustavo bequeathed us an unforgettable mantra:
"You deserve what you dream".

The irreparable and sad loss of Gustavo Cerati, which provoked massive public demonstrations
of love and respect in all Latin nations, only seen with the death of tango icon Carlos Gardel, or the
legends of Mexican cinema Cantinflas
and Pedro Infante (Comparable to the
effect of the deaths of Elvis Presley and John Lennon), means Soda Stereo's active years have come to an end, but their success story is far from over.

New generations are
discovering their legacy
and enjoying the creative
ways in which they constantly reinvented themselves live and in the studio, to continue
innovating and evolving
throughout their career.
Their music is as relevant
and alive today as it was in the eighties and nineties.

Soda Stereo's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would be the perfect way to add a happy and memorable chapter to an incredible story, one that has touched many hearts and that will continue to amaze and inspire millions around the planet. Please help

La mejor manera de explicarle a alguien sin experiencia en música
Latina lo que Soda Stereo representa para la comunidad Hispana en América y alrededor
del planeta es haciendo referencia a The Beatles.
Así como Paul, John, Ringo y George comenzaron a sorprender y a sumar fanáticos globalmente
antes que nadie en los años sesenta; Gustavo Cerati, Charly Alberti y Zeta Bosio han hecho lo
mismo en el universo Latino desde los años ochentas.
Al igual que The Beatles en todos los idiomas, Soda Stereo representa un positivo “Antes y después” para el rock
y pop en Español.

Alcanzar la excelencia musical y un reconocimiento masivo que abarque varias décadas, y construir un legado que perdurará en el tejido social de muchos países, son factores vitales que deben ser reconocidos siempre.
Pero hacerlo en países con bellos y abundantes ritmos y estilos locales, en donde el rock era un género de escaso interés para las discográficas, los
medios de comunicación y los promotores de conciertos, incluso prohibido en muchos lugares, y aún así, dentro de su área de influencia disfrutar del mismo tipo de aclamación crítica y popularidad que The Beatles, The Rolling
Stones, David Bowie, Queen, KISS, The Police, U2 y Coldplay, es una hazaña tremenda que debe ser reconocida, pero también celebrada en todo lo alto por plantar una exitosa semilla en un desierto inhóspito.
Si agregamos que Soda Stereo lo logró cantando exclusivamente en Español,
lo cual le ha dado a varias generaciones de Hispanos una identidad propia y un sentido de pertenencia, porque por primera vez le permitió a millones, cerca y lejos, ser parte de un todo y disfrutar del rock en su propio idioma y con letras más cercanas a su realidad cotidiana, entonces estamos frente a un fenómeno que va más allá de cualquier descripción de impacto positivo permanente.
Soda Stereo es un elemento clave en el crecimiento y perpetuación del rock
como género exitoso en América Latina, si bandas de todo el mundo ahora
pueden realizar más facilmente giras exitosas en sus principales ciudades, es porque Soda Stereo pavimentó el camino para todos con trabajo duro,
creatividad y excelencia.

El señor Martin también hizo la interpretación vocal de esta canción en la reciente gira de despedida de Soda Stereo "Gracias Totales".

Con la irreparable y triste pérdida de Gustavo Cerati, que provocó masivas demostraciones públicas de amor y
respeto en todas las naciones Latinas,
sólo vistas con el fallecimiento del ícono
del tango Carlos Gardel, o las leyendas del cine Mexicano Cantinflas y Pedro Infante, los años activos de Soda Stereo han llegado a su final, pero su exitosa
historia aún está lejos de terminar.

Nuevas generaciones están descubriendo su legado y disfrutando de las creativas formas en las que constantemente
se reinventaron, en vivo y en el estudio, para continuar innovando
y evolucionando a lo largo de su carrera.
Su música es tan relevante y viva hoy como lo fue en los años
ochenta y noventa.

La inducción de Soda Stereo al Salón de la Fama del Rock and Roll mundial sería la
